Ep. 11: Been Around the World
We're rolling out the first episode in our Mom 2.0 Summit series, where we chatted live with major content creators and media mavens at the annual conference, this time in Orlando, Florida. We were happy to get the chance to chat it up with Heather Greenwood Davis, a Contributing Editor at National Geographic Traveler. She is also an award-winning freelance writer and columnist and the voice behind GlobetrottingMama, an international family travel blog. She is a strong advocate for travel as a tool for both education and family bonding.
Heather's also a columnist with Lexpert Magazine and a travel expert on The Social, a morning talk show in Canada. Articles and segments by her and about her have appeared in O, The Oprah Magazine, NPR and CBC in Canada. The married mom of two boys was named a Traveler of the Year in 2012 after a yearlong family trip around the world that hit 29 countries on six continents in 12 months. Her story on the family’s decision to travel the world is included in O’s Little Book of Happiness (Flatiron Books, 2015).
Heather sits on the Advisory Board of the Family Travel Association, is a travel mentor with The Passport Party Project and is the only Canadian member of the Board of Advisors for the UN Foundation’s Shot@Life program. We also talked about the Mom 2.0 Summit overall and shouted out yoga teacher, body positivity advocate and author of Every Body Yoga Jessamyn Stanley. (You can also catch Stanely in this Kotex commercial. We knew there was an ad, but couldn't remember for which product! Thanks, Google.)
